Stainless Steel Rooftop Pool

This rooftop pool project at University City Center in Columbus, Ohio is somewhat unique because the finish is stainless steel. The roof top vault for the pool was constructed 8 feet deep. This is fairly typical in mid-rise and high-rise construction because the final design of the rooftop pool has not been completed at the time construction is underway. Lightweight EPS15 geofoam weighing less than one pound per cubic foot is used to fill in the bottom and also to create steps, shelves and benches. In this case, 45 blocks of EPS15 geofoam 36 inch x 48 inch x 96 inch and 90 sheets 2 inches thick were used to reduce the depth of the pool. The blocks also elevated the floor for the contractor to work from making installation of the stainless panels easier and safer than working from ladders or scaffolding.

“Universal Foam Products was our Geofoam supplier for a stadium seating project in New Orleans. The material was delivered on time and cut to size. We installed the project in less than 3 hours with a 4 man crew without cutting a single piece of foam. We look forward to doing more projects with your company in the future.”
