Secant pile forms constructed of expanded polystyrene have become the industry standard due to their low cost, versatility and ease of installation. The EPS forms can be provided in any diameter, any spacing and any depth required. Typically produced of 1 lb or 1.5 pound per cubic foot density EPS, they do not need any special equipment to be set in place because of their light weight. For this project in Houston, Texas, 80 forms 42” in diameter were provided to create 2 circular water tight areas. Each of the EPS forms has a hole in the center so that rebar can be installed and driven in the ground to anchor the form in place. After the inside and outside of the forms are formed and the concrete is installed, the rebar is removed prior to the drilling operation.
