This commercial window company in San Diego, California installs glazing for everything from storefront glass to bullet proof structures. When working on projects with post tensioned slabs they provide the contractor with precut steel tubes to anchor into the slabs as they are produced, so they can anchor their glazing systems without cutting into the concrete. The steel tube is provided to the contractor with the EPS foam already installed to prevent concrete from filling the tubes.
Prior to using the EPS to fill the tube, they used spray foam, batt insulation and other odds and ends they could find to keep the concrete out of the tubes. The EPS cut their labor in half, because it fits snuggly into the tubes which made their installation much quicker and cleaner.
