EPS22 geofoam was used for the loading dock ramp for this project in Omaha, Nebraska. The contractor had used the material for interior applications and after seeing how easy it was to work with, decided to use it here also after having the engineer approve it. Universal provided a drawing showing the location of each piece of geofoam in each layer and the material was delivered to the site pre-tapered, with every piece marked for fast installation. After the geofoam was installed it was covered with earth and then concrete was placed on top.
EPS22 is a lightweight void fill that has a compression strength of 1050 pounds per square foot at 1% deformation. It is one of seven different densities that are available with compression strengths ranging from 320 pounds per square foot to 2,680 pounds per square foot at 1% deformation.
Typical applications are fill under slabs, concrete form block-outs and form liners.
