Concrete Forms & Block Outs

EPS is used to create molds to form concrete shapes such as columns, building facades & architectural features. It can be used to form parapet caps and other shapes that require greater detail then can easily or economically be produced with other materials.

Concrete Block-outs

Concrete block-outs are typically made of EPS for tilt-up wall panels as well as vertical poured in place applications. Expanded Polystyrene has the necessary compression strength to handle the weight of wet concrete and the pieces are delivered pre-cut and ready to use. After the concrete sets up, the EPS can be easily removed.

Universal Foam Products collaborated with Gate Precast on a highly detailed precast project for The Crow Museum of Asian Art in Dallas, Texas. To meet the unique design requirements, 1.8 lb density EPS foam was precisely cut using 3D CAD files and a 6-axis CNC router. Although the CNC machining process was time-intensive, it allowed for exceptional accuracy in shaping the complex forms.
