Universal Foam Products collaborated with Gate Precast on a highly detailed precast project for The Crow Museum of Asian Art in Dallas, Texas. To meet the unique design requirements, 1.8 lb density EPS foam was precisely cut using 3D CAD files and a 6-axis CNC router. Although the CNC machining process was time-intensive, it allowed for exceptional accuracy in shaping the complex forms. The EPS foam acted as custom molds for the architectural precast panels, capturing intricate details and ensuring each element fit seamlessly into the overall design. Its lightweight yet durable nature made the forming process more efficient and easier to handle, helping to streamline production and reduce labor demands on-site. The combination of EPS foam and precast concrete enabled consistent replication of fine details, contributing significantly to the project’s refined aesthetic.
