EPS22
Geofoam was supplied in 12” x 48” x 96” sheets and used as a lightweight backfill material around building foundations to reduce lateral earth pressures and minimize settlement.
EPS22
Geofoam weighs a nominal 1.5 lbs/cf compared to soil that can weigh over 100 lbs/cf. The EPS sheets were installed against the foundation walls in place of traditional soil backfill, significantly reducing structural loads due to the material’s ultra-low density. The contractor noted that the EPS Geofoam was easy to handle and install, could be readily shaped to meet field conditions, and was protected with drainage systems to prevent moisture intrusion and ensure long-term performance.
