EPS Concrete Forms Used in Top Part of Concrete Pedestals

Tapered EPS concrete form liners were used to form the top part of these concrete pedestals in Newark, New Jersey. There are different size pedestals tapering from 16” to over 21” from top to bottom and they are almost 7’ across. They cast a constantly changing shadow pattern on the walkway below. The pedestals, which are over 34’ tall, are part of an agora just outside of a new 177,000 switching station that was recently completed in Newark.

Form liners of expanded polystyrene are used to economically form both horizontal and vertical complex concrete shapes. The light weight and substantial strength of EPS makes it the ideal material for forming everything from architectural features such as columns, crown molding and corbels to vertical and horizontal bridge supports.
