Secant pile walls are created by drilling a series of overlapping concrete piles reinforced with steel beams or rebar to form a wall. EPS Foam is great for creating a template and form for this application. The EPS foam forms help with accuracy and guidance during drilling, and Universal Foam Products provides these forms with a wire cut hole in the center of each to allow for anchoring and accurate placement. These forms are cut to size and configuration for the labor to be very minimal and easy on site. Each form has the cut out for the center to center spacing and should fit into each other as simple as a puzzle.
This project located in Portland, Oregon was fairly large, with about 232 secant pile forms 35-1/8” diameter and 36” Tall. Universal Foam Products provided these cylindrical shaped pieces in 1 lb Virgin EPS. After the forms are set, and the initial rebar is put into place, the concrete is poured around the forms and the drilling can begin.
