EPS geofoam blocks are the perfect void fill material for most concrete applications. Whether the project consists of steps, ramps, raised slabs or benches, lightweight EPS geofoam is the solution. It is extremely lightweight, ranging from less than 1 pound per cubic foot to 3 pounds per cubic foot depending upon the compression strength required. It can be provided in almost any size or shape required, and it ships from locations throughout the country. For this school project in North Mahaska Community School District in New Sharon, Iowa 50207, 28 blocks of EPS15 geofoam 15 inch x 23 inch x 96 inch were used to create locker room benches. EPS15 geofoam has a compression strength of 3.6 pounds per square inch at 1 percent deformation and weighs less than 1 pound per cubic foot. For this project the geofoam blocks reduced weight and decreased the construction time.
