Prefabricated steel stairs and landings are used in almost all new multi-story residential and commercial projects. The standard temporary filler for the pans during construction has typically been 2x10s cut to size. The problem with using lumber as temporary filler is that it rarely fits properly and can become slippery when wet. If the boards are warped they move around. A better and economical solution is nominal 2 lb density EPS cut to the exact size required. The EPS can be delivered the same time as the stairs, is simple to install and meets OSHA requirements, eliminating any tripping hazards. For landings, larger pieces are provided, up to 48” wide in a single piece. The 2 lb EPS is durable, lightweight and provides a good non-slip surface. When ready for concrete just remove the panels and take them to the next project or dispose of them. The EPS panels ship from locations throughout the United States for fast, economical delivery.
