Universal Foam Products supplied EPS29 Geofoam to a concrete and masonry contractor for a project in Brooklyn, NY. The project involved filling a 30 inch deep, 800 square-foot pit located within a retail space.
To complete the job, EPS29 Geofoam sheets of varying thicknesses were used to fill the pit, leaving space for a 4 inch reinforced concrete topping slab, which was poured over the Geofoam. Due to the presence of extensive mechanical piping within the pit, the customer used saws to cut Geofoam sheets to ensure a precise fit around the piping layout.
EPS29 Geofoam has a compressive strength of 1570 psf at just 1% deformation. The Geofoam offers a lightweight alternative to traditional aggregate fill, significantly reducing the load on underlying structures while achieving the desired elevation.
