To solve a problem with drafty windows, this apartment owner in Fort Lee, NJ purchased 1.2 lb density polyurethane foam in 2” x 2” x 48” pieces to snugly fit the tracks for the window. This helped stop cold air from coming in from weep holes for water drainage and helped insulate the building. The polyurethane is a flexible foam that can easily be compressed and eliminated the drafty conditions. Polyurethane is also used for packaging applications, particularly when shipping fragile electronic parts.
