When a grade beam foundation is required above ground, using expanded polystyrene blocks to form the beams is a logical solution. The blocks are lightweight and easy to handle, allowing for a rapid installation. They can be delivered to the site precut and ready to install. If chamfered edges are required they can be easily cut on site using an EPS hot knife or precut at the factory prior to delivery. The blocks are typically anchored in place using rebar or straps with earth augers to prevent movement during concrete installation. EPS has a high R-Value providing a well-insulated floor.
